Sony expands its blockchain ecosystem by partnering with Japanese social media giant LINE to bring popular mini-apps to the Soneium blockchain.
Sony has announced a collaboration with LINE to integrate four widely used mini-apps from the social platform into the Soneium blockchain. This move marks a significant step in Sony’s transition from Web2 to Web3, providing a seamless blockchain experience for millions of users.
Four LINE Mini-Apps to Launch on Soneium Blockchain
LINE, one of Japan’s largest social media platforms with approximately 200 million monthly active users, will integrate the following four mini-apps into Soneium:
- Sleepagotchi
- Farm Frens
- Puffy Match
- Pocket Mob
This integration will enable these applications to leverage blockchain technology to enhance in-game rewards, facilitate digital asset transactions, and improve the overall user experience.
Soneium is an Ethereum-based Layer-2 blockchain that utilizes Optimism’s OP Stack technology, ensuring fast transactions and low fees. Since its launch in January 2025, Soneium has quickly climbed to the 15th position among Layer-2 blockchains in terms of total value locked (TVL), according to L2 Beat data.
Sony Block Solutions Labs (SBSL), Sony’s blockchain division, sees this partnership with LINE as a major opportunity to expand blockchain applications in the digital entertainment sector. Jun Watanabe, President of Sony Block Solutions Labs, stated:
