On March 9, according to Crypto.news, FIFA President Gianni Infantino revealed that the organization is exploring the launch of its own cryptocurrency. Speaking at the White House Crypto Summit on March 7, Infantino emphasized FIFA’s ambition to introduce an official token and strengthen engagement with its global fan base. He stated:
"FIFA is highly interested in developing an official token, starting here—from the United States—aiming to reach 5 billion football fans worldwide and conquer the football world."
Although no specific details or timeline have been disclosed, this move signals FIFA’s growing interest in blockchain technology as a means to enhance fan interaction and create new revenue streams.
Following the summit, Donald Trump commented:
"The value of this token could eventually surpass FIFA itself. In fact, it could be a very valuable asset."
FIFA is currently preparing for the 2026 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. Notably, after news of FIFA’s potential cryptocurrency surfaced, a fraudulent token named “FIFA” surged by 357,000% in just one day, reaching a market cap of approximately $8.2 million. However, FIFA has yet to officially issue any tokens in the market.
