Long before Elon Musk acquired Twitter and rebranded it as X, the social media platform had been struggling with the issue of bot accounts. Recently, Changpeng Zhao (CZ), the founder and former CEO of Binance, appears to have lost patience with the situation.
"I think X should ban all bots. I just want to interact with real people here," CZ shared on X on Sunday, directly tagging Musk's account.
"If someone uses Grok/GPT/DeepSeek to generate a tweet and then copy-pastes it here, that's fine. But posting via API should be disabled."
As the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange, Binance plays a crucial role in the digital asset industry. Meanwhile, X remains a key platform where many crypto investors and experts exchange information. CZ is also a highly influential figure in the space, boasting nearly 10 million followers on X.
CZ further elaborated on his stance when responding to a comment under his post:
"AI can help me book hotels, buy tickets, or write code. But I don't need to 'socialize' with it."
Bots have long been present on social media platforms, including in the cryptocurrency sector. Some projects, like Sam Altman’s Worldcoin, aim to build a Web3 model where users can easily distinguish between real humans and AI interactions. Worldcoin offers cryptocurrency and World ID to those who verify their real-world identity within the system.
